The Google Index Checker extension lets you check whether pages are indexed by Google without leaving the page you are on. It uses the credits of your IndexCheckr account.
Connecting the extension to your account
The extension connects with your API token:
In IndexCheckr, open the API page from the left-hand menu and copy your token (see API token and documentation).
Open the extension and click the gear icon to go to Settings.
Paste the token and click Save.
Your credit balance then appears at the top of the extension.
đĄ Note: If you rotate your API token, paste the new token in the extension settings.
The four tabs
Page
Click Check this page to see whether the page in your current tab is indexed. The result is Page is indexed, Page is NOT indexed or Domain is NOT indexed.
Links
Click Check outbound links to check every link on the current page that points to another site (including subdomains), up to 1,000 links. With Highlight results on the page turned on, a colored dot appears next to each link on the page. Click a row in the results to scroll to that link on the page.
This is a quick way to check whether the backlinks on a page, or the links a partner placed for you, are indexed.
Bulk
Paste a list of URLs, one per line, and click Submit. You can check up to 1,000 URLs at a time. URLs must start with http:// or https://.
Sitemap
Click Find sitemaps. The extension looks for the site's sitemaps in its robots.txt file and at the usual locations (such as
/sitemap.xml).Select the sitemaps you want and click Expand selected to load their URLs. Sitemaps hosted on another domain need your permission first: click Allow & fetch external sitemaps.
Optionally narrow the list with URL contains (for example
/blog/) or Changed within N days.Click Check URLs.
You can check up to 10,000 sitemap URLs at a time. For larger sitemaps, narrow the filter, or import the sitemap in the IndexCheckr web app, which also rechecks it automatically.
Right-click and keyboard shortcut
Right-click a link and choose Check Google index of this link, or right-click anywhere on a page and choose Check if this page is indexed. The result appears on the extension icon in your toolbar: a green â for indexed, an amber â for page not indexed, and a red â for domain not indexed.
Press Ctrl+Shift+Y (Command+Shift+Y on Mac) to open the extension.
Credits
Each URL checked costs one credit, on every tab.
Before checking 20 URLs or more (and before every sitemap check), the extension shows how many credits the check will use and your balance afterwards, so you can confirm or cancel.
Checks that fail are not charged.
Results from the Page and Links tabs and from right-click checks are remembered on your computer for 7 days by default (you can choose 1 to 90 days in Settings). Showing a remembered result is free. To check again, click the re-check button (one credit).
Exporting and finding your results
On the Links, Bulk and Sitemap tabs, an Export button downloads the results as a CSV file once the check is complete.
Bulk, Links and Sitemap checks are also saved in Quick Check in the web app, marked with the source Chrome extension. From there you can view them again for 30 days, export them, or add the URLs to a project.
