Sitemap management

IndexCheckr allows you to manage XML sitemaps linked to your projects, including standard sitemaps and sitemap indexes (sitemaps of sitemaps). This makes it easy to monitor large or frequently updated websites without manual imports.

When you import pages from a sitemap, IndexCheckr keeps a record of each sitemap linked to your project. These sitemaps are periodically rechecked based on your selected import frequency, and any new pages are automatically added and checked.

You can manage your sitemaps from the Project Overview. Each project shows the number of associated sitemaps. Clicking this number opens the sitemap management view.

Sitemap types and depth support

IndexCheckr supports:

  • Standard XML sitemaps, which contain URLs directly

  • Sitemap indexes (sitemaps of sitemaps), with support for up to three levels of nesting

If a sitemap references other sitemaps, those referenced sitemaps are crawled automatically.

Sitemap information

For each sitemap, the following information is displayed:

  • Sitemap URL

  • Import period: how often IndexCheckr fetches and processes the sitemap (Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly)

  • Pages recheck period: the frequency applied to new pages imported from that sitemap

Import behavior and credits

If the total number of pages exceeds your available credits, IndexCheckr performs a partial import. Pages are added until your credits are exhausted, and the remaining URLs are skipped.

You can:

  • Change the import frequency at any time

  • Delete a sitemap to stop importing new URLs from it

This system allows you to automate monitoring of large or frequently updated websites, keeping your project up to date without manual imports.
